Robert Lypka

Robert John Lypka (b. Toronto, Ontario, Canada) began his life-long interest in film music when, as a child, his father took him to see Fantasia, Walt Disneys’s artful collection of animated shorts scored to orchestral classics.  This introduction to the works of Bach, Beethoven, Stravinsky and others made a lasting impression and opened up a realm of music which was to influence him for many years to come.   From an early age, Robert studied piano through the Royal Conservatory of Music and admits being motivated by Schroeder, the piano-playing Beethoven aficionado from the comic strip Peanuts.  Robert continued his musical studies and received a Bachelor of Music from Carleton University in 1980, majoring in theory and composition.   While at Carleton, he began using computers to generate music, a little-known practice at the time.  His interest in the new technology led him to continue his studies and in 1985 received a Bachelors degree in Applied Computer Science from Ryerson University in Toronto.

Judy Lypka

Judy Lypka (b. Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada) began her musical and compositional career early in life.  She began singing in school choirs from the age of six and piano lessons at age 10 and, continuing her studies, obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from Carleton University in 1978 and the Associate Diploma in Piano Pedagogy from Western University in 1982.  Throughout her educational career, Judy has composed accompaniments to a variety of songs for school choirs and continues to compose new music for elementary choirs.  Her interest in composing a piece for Canadian veterans led to an opportunity to record and perform her song "See With Your Heart" featured in the film "Lest They Be Forgotten - Canada", a documentary on Canadian War Veterans.  She continues to write music and choral arrangements honouring Canadian veterans, as well as compositional works for film and school productions. She also continues to teach piano and theory.

Judy is currently based in the Niagara Region of Ontario, Canada where she lives on a small farm with her husband and fellow composer, Robert.
